Great Day St. Louis Post

I had such an amazing experience today! Great Day St. Louis asked me for my expertise on how to get a summer glow and I put together a short segment that would work for all women no matter their style.

Tips to get GREAT Self Tanning Results!

A few things I fail to mention in my video (ahem.. it was 7:30am) are the following tips:

-Always exfoliate before self tanning. I exfoliate every day with my Clarisonic but sometimes you need more than that. I would recommend something (for the face) like a St. Ives Apricot Scrub (low end) or Kate Somerville Exfolikate (high end) once or twice a week, or specifically before self tanning.

If you are in the market for a Clarisonic and also are a fan of fake baking you need to get the Clarisonic Plus. It comes with a body attachment which works great with the Clarisonic Body Exfoliator (low end since it comes with it) or my absolute favorite Jo Malone Vitamin E Body Scrub (high end).

-Another great tip that I am being a total hypocrite about is that it is best to self tan in the evenings after a shower. Since you dont want streaking it’s best to avoid self tanning then putting something wet on your face (such as skincare & makeup). The other perk of self tanning in the evening is that you can sleep with it on the skin allowing it to soak in more and that way you can shower it off in the morning and not smell like self tanner all day.

Tip: Some self tanners can come off on your sheets if you sleep in it. The products I used in the video will not (at least they haven’t for me!).

Update: I noticed a bit of creasing after a few hours since I didn’t put on an eyeshadow primer. I should have used the NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base as it is clear and won’t change the look at all it will just keep from creasing.

Emma Stone on the cover of July Vogue- Get the look!

The July cover of Vogue just leaked and needless to say Emma Stone is showing her rarely seen feminine side. As she is becoming more famous and transforming into a Hollywood leading lady, her style both fashion and beauty is quickly adapting as well. While the leaked pics aren’t the highest resolution (as of today), I thought it would be nice to give some tips on how to recreate her look.

1. For perfectly smooth skin start off with a great skincare routine.

I recommend everyone to use the Clarisonic with a non-drying cleanser. Follow with a hydrating Serum such as Kate Somerville Quench and then a hydrating moisturizer such as Diorsnow Gel Creme. Follow with a Primer such as Make Up For Ever HD Primer.

2. Have the perfect complexion.

My skin begs for good coverage but light texture during the summer. Cover any blemishes with a concealer the color of your skin. Follow with Dior AIRFLASH Foundation sprayed on a flat Kabuki brush and buff it into your skin. Highlight with the YSL Touche Eclat under your eyes, on the brow bone and bridge of your nose. Dust a light pink blush on your cheeks such as Deepthroat by NARS.

3. Make your eyes pop!

Conceal any redness or imperfections with a MAC paint pot in Painterly. Dust MAC Brulé shadow with a blending brush up to your brow bone. Follow with NARS Eyeshadow stick in Goddess around the inner corners of your eyes and a little on the center of your lid. Follow with a long wearing precision eyeliner such as NARS Via Veneto around your eyes on the waterline. Smudge a bit throughout the bottom lashline and set it with a Volumizing Mascara such as Clarins Wonder Perfect mascara.

4. Baby Pink Pout.

NARS makes the most perfect pink lipstick that isn’t drying. The shade is Roman Holiday. Try it out!

5. Defined Brows

Defined brows are ALWAYS in style. If you’re new to the idea, skip the pencil and go for a light neutral taupe such as Omega from MAC or Blondie from NARS. Brush the color into your brows in the direction of the hair growth with the Bobbi Brown brow brush.

Making lipstick at home!

Have you ever considered making your own lipstick? I have! I hate when I need a specific color and can’t find anything close to what I’m looking for. It’s also sad when you find an amazing color that is limited edition (ahem… pink friday anyone??). After watching these videos from EnKore Beauty I think it would be so fun to make custom lipsticks for photoshoots and weddings. It would be awesome to be able to use a custom lipstick on a bride then let her take it with her for her big day! For the cost of buying all the lipsticks I want from LimeCrime I could have unlimited amounts of pastels and black! I can’t wait to experiment with different finishes, scents & flavors. What color would you make?

Be Gorgeous Hair Extensions (and The Powder Room) Review

This is my overly long review regarding the Australian Hair Extension’s called BeGorgeous. I felt this review was necessary due to lack of information about them on the internet and YouTube. If you could care less about the backstory and want to save 12 minutes of your life here’s the gist- BeGorgeous claims their hair lasts up to a year (with proper maintenance). This hair completely fell out before 8 weeks was even up.

It’s a horrible investment and on top of it the quality of hair is total shit. It’s the same as any “luxury” Remi hair brand from Sally’s so you’re better off saving hundreds and glueing that crap to your head. The hair has horrible split ends that show up after a few washes and it’s incredibly dry after a few washes as well. Also, it’s nearly impossible to wear your hair up if you’re a blonde as the bonding pieces show no matter how far back from your hair line they are. It’s just bad, bad, bad and I hoped I saved you hundreds of dollars. If you’re watching from St. Louis area, the salon I am referring to in the video is The Powder Room in St. Peters. I just don’t understand why anyone would want to wear temporary lip tattoos. They look so juvenile and awful. I saw these at the IMATS last summer and thought it was a joke.

The branding makes it seem like it could look kind of cool (see below) but really you will look like you have slugs on your lips.
